It's time to reinstate the long-form census

[The link above] to this message and posted to the UTFA website on the main page (right hand side under "New") is a statement released this afternoon by the Canadian Journalists for Free Expression and signed by several other organizations, including UTFA. The statement calls for support for Bill C-626 which would reinstate the long-form census in Canada. [a section on "what you can do to help" is incuded in the statement]
As an organization, we continue to be alarmed at decisions being made by the federal government that affect science and science policy in Canada, and the termination of the long-form census some years ago is part of this pattern. We are working in a coalition with groups such as Evidence for Democracy and Scientists for the Right to Know to try to raise awareness of the need for a change in direction. Bill C-6262 would be part of that needed change.
